Although many of its new features had already been available since February, their official presentation took place on 1 April, during the final day of the online introduction to the technological tools managed by the Communications Department. On this occasion, the new features of the updated version of NewsFeed were explained in great detail to the communicators of the Salesian Schools Network in Chile.
The update aims to improve the user experience, expand the options available to local communications teams, and shift from a focus on quantity to a focus on the quality of the news feed.
“We continue to make progress in integrating Artificial Intelligence into our workflow in support of the Salesian Mission,” commented Vicente Fritz, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication.
He went on to specify that the real novelty of the update lies “in regulating the intense flow of news in favour of more diverse and representative content, and in continuing to optimise the work of communicators”.
New features
Among the main changes, the addition of a paid token system for the use of artificial intelligence stands out, allowing texts to be processed more quickly and accurately, overcoming the limitations previously encountered with free tokens.
Furthermore, a news categorisation system has been implemented, allowing all content to be organised centrally at the various stages of the editorial process, from submission through to eventual publication on the national website.
Another new feature is the introduction of a submission quota, limiting the number of news items awaiting review to five per work or group. This measure aims to balance the flow of content and ensure a fairer representation of the Salesian mission.
Added to this is an AI-based evaluation and feedback tool, which enables local communicators to receive guidance on improving the quality of their texts.
Furthermore, a function for automatically adapting content for social media has been incorporated, generating concise versions ready for distribution, which will reduce processing times and help communicators share information on their works’ websites and social media pages.
Finally, an image resizing option has been added, making it easier to edit photos directly on the platform.
With these improvements, NewsFeed 2.0 establishes itself as a key tool for strengthening Salesian communication at a national level, promoting content that is more relevant, well-crafted and aligned with the mission.
