Hong Kong – January 2026 – The second pastoral seminar of the 2025-2026 academic year was held on 10 January at the Salesian Mission House in Hong Kong and on 17 January at the Dom Bosco Yuet Wah Primary School in Macao. The meetings brought together over 150 principals, teachers and pastoral workers from Salesian schools and institutions. In response to this year’s pastoral theme, ‘Together with young people, let us ignite hope in the digital world’, the seminar explored the challenges of cyberbullying and internet addiction, seeking practical and pastoral responses. The first session featured Mr Tam Tek Sang Dickson, head of the Soul Free Project Centre of the Bosco Youth Service Network, who spoke on the topic ‘Preventing cyberbullying and Internet addiction.’ Mr Lam In Nam Kerwin, Itinerant Psychological Consultant for the same organisation, further shared observations on the social interactions of young people. The second session was led by Fr Martin Yip, Delegate for Social Communications, who presented two social communication documents: ‘Guidelines on the Use of Social Media and Generative AI Technology’ and ‘Hate Speech’. This was followed by a presentation by Fr Anthony Leung, Delegate for Salesian Missions, who introduced the Salesian Mission Day 2026. This year’s Mission Day will include a fundraiser for the new Salesian presence on the island of Syros, Greece.
