Brazil – The Salesian São Gonçalo Parish celebrates the first Don Bosco Award for Salesian Witness

(ANS – Cuiabá) – In the heart of the capital of Mato Grosso, the São Gonçalo Parish  experienced a moment of profound gratitude and spirituality on 31 January on the feast of Don Bosco. Under the guidance of the parish priest, Fr Idenílson Lemes da Conceição, the community celebrated the presentation of the first Don Bosco Award for Salesian Witness, an initiative that aims to recognise those who embody Don Bosco’s teachings in daily parish life. The award was structured in such a way as to involve the nine communities that make up the parish in Cuiabá. According to Fr Idenílson, the intention is to draw the attention of all members of the educational community to the importance of this practice, highlighting how Salesian spirituality can and should be applied in everyday interpersonal relationships. More than just a recognition, the award is an invitation to reflection and action. To keep the flame of this witness alive, the Don Bosco Award already has fixed dates in the parish calendar. The awards will be presented twice a year on two significant dates: 31 January, the liturgical feast of Don Bosco, and 16 August, the date of his birth.
