(ANS – Cuenca) – The “Técnico Salesiano” Educational Unit of Cuenca celebrated its 90th anniversary and Ecuadorian Civic Day on February 27 with a special program held at the Coliseum Miguel Merchán, attended by authorities, teachers, students, and parents. The day began with the singing of the National Anthem of the Republic of Ecuador, followed by the presentation of a commemorative parchment by the Student Council of the Yanuncay, Carlos Crespi, and María Auxiliadora campuses, together with the Central Parents’ Committee and the Association of Teachers, Employees, and Workers. The tribute highlighted the institution’s consistent work, educational dedication, and faith inspired by the charism of Saint John Bosco, pillars that have sustained the Salesian mission in Cuenca. Fr. Ángel Lazo, Rector of the Sacred Heart Community of Yanuncay, recalled that for ninety years Salesian technical education has formed generations of well-rounded young people capable of working, thinking, and serving responsibly. He added that the journey toward the centenary represents an opportunity to strengthen institutional identity and civic commitment. The program also featured a performance by the institute’s traditional dance group, adding cultural identity to the celebration with national rhythms.
