Colombia – Communicating the Mission, Preserving Memory and Projecting the Charism: First Meeting on Social Communication and Historical Memory

(ANS – El Porvenir) – The First Provincial Meeting of the Salesians in Bogotá Colombia (COB) on Social Communication and Historical Memory took place from 18 to 20 March 2026, at the Salesian Presence in El Porvenir, This was a formation space and coordination event that brought together the communication and memory coordinators from the various presences within the Province, with the aim of consolidating an institutional culture of communication at the service of the Salesian mission. During the meeting, significant opportunities were created to recognise and value the work that each presence is developing in the fields of social communication and historical memory, emphasising its importance as a fundamental pillar for narrating identity, strengthening institutional processes, and projecting the charism in various educational and pastoral contexts. Initiatives and lines of action were also presented, aimed at strengthening memory as a strategic component of provincial communication, promoting a conscious perspective on history, heritage and the construction of identity in every work. The meeting also included collaborative workshops focused on the preservation and appropriation of historical memory, as well as practical forms of formation. Participants visited the Salesian Cultural Centre in the centre of Bogotá, recognising it as a key reference point for the preservation of heritage, historical memory and the cultural projection of the Salesian mission.
