(ANS – Montevideo) – A meeting of Quinquennium missionaries from the South Cone and Interamerica Regions began on 3 May 2026. This is the final meeting to take place, following others already held in Cambodia, Kenya and Italy. It is currently being held in Uruguay. Montevideo was chosen as the host city for the event, to mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the missionaries in the country. After the congregation’s first presence in Argentina, Uruguay was the second destination in the region, thus marking a significant historical moment. A total of 19 people are taking part, including missionaries, members of the Missions Sector led by Fr Jorge Mario Crisafulli, General Councillor for the Missions, and guests assisting with the organisation of the meeting. The St Joseph Province of Uruguay (URU) welcomed the group with great joy, offering support and fostering moments of fraternity and sharing.
