(ANS – Addis Ababa) – On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the Afrobosco 2026 assembly officially commenced in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bringing together representatives from across Africa, including participants from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, South Africa, Eswatini, Togo, Uganda, and Burundi. The assembly also welcomed participants from Malta, Italy, Slovakia, and Vietnam which are the member of World Confederation Presidency. The event began with a warm welcoming by Haftom Hailu, president of the hosting association Don Bosco Past Pupils Ethiopia. Following this, an opening speech and good night-talk addressed by Reverend Fr. Ignacio Laventure, the Provincial of Kidane-Mehret AETVice Province. This gathering reflects a growing commitment to strengthening the mission of Don Bosco’s Past Pupils and Friends within the African context. The assembly was formally inaugurated on Thursday morning by World President Bryan Magro. He outlined the purpose of the Confederation and shared the strategic direction for the upcoming three days. His message emphasized unity, shared identity, and the vital role of Past Pupils in actively contributing to society while remaining faithful to the values of Don Bosco.
