(ANS – Buenos Aires) – The Salesian presence in Argentina was represented from 9 to 12 July 2026 at the 20th edition of “Caminos y Sabores”, a leading gastronomic and cultural fair in Buenos Aires. In a year in which the event moved to a new venue – the BA Ferial complex – the Salesian Mission Office, Argentina, Don Bosco Por Los Jóvenes, set up its own pavilion where products made in Salesian agricultural technical schools (wines, olive oil, yerba mate, dulce de leche and cheeses) were showcased.
The pupils at these schools take part in the entire production process as part of their formation. Don Bosco Por Los Jóvenes allocates the proceeds from the sale of these products to support initiatives carried out in Salesian houses across the country, including educational, vocational training, social-community and pastoral activities, as well as the missionary presences in Argentine Patagonia.
On this occasion, the central theme of the Salesian pavilion was the 150th anniversary of the arrival in Argentina of the first Salesian missionaries sent by St John Bosco in 1875.
The Don Bosco Por Los Jóvenes team at the fair received visits from prominent figures, as well as from current staff of the Mission Office, Past Pupils of Salesian houses in Argentina and other countries, and the families of Past Pupils – demonstrating that the bond with Don Bosco transcends borders and generations.
According to the event organisers, over 100,000 visitors were recorded over the four days, at a fair which saw the participation of more than 500 producers from across the country and 40 guest chefs.
Gonzalo López, a representative of the Salesian Carlos M. Casares Agricultural Technical School in Del Valle, in the Province of Buenos Aires, took advantage of the opportunities for discussion and meetings with representatives from other institutions present to showcase the school’s range of produce and ensure that Salesian products continue to reach every corner of the country.
The “Caminos y Sabores” fair, known as “The Great Argentine Market”, is a venue that brings together in one place the enormous diversity of a country where unique flavours, aromas, textures and landscapes coexist. It is an event that combines gastronomic, cultural and federal aspects, representing Argentina’s diverse identity.
The Don Bosco Por Los Jóvenes Mission Office has been taking part in this fair for over 10 years and has done so once again, in line with the aim of giving thanks, reflecting on and revitalising Don Bosco’s dream, 150 years after the arrival of the first Salesians in the country.
