Argentina – Patios sin fronteras – “Courtyards without Borders”: a new invitation to live out the Salesian mission
(ANS – Córdoba) – The Salesian Province of Northern Argentina (ARN), based in Córdoba, organised a virtual launch event for “Patios sin fronteras – Courtyards without Borders. Volunteering XXL”, a new missionary initiative aimed at young people keen to experience service, faith and dedication by supporting concrete aspects of our Salesian mission. The invitation is aimed in particular at young people aged between 21 and 35 who feel called to share their time and gifts through a missionary experience, as well as those who support vocational and service pathways: community leaders, Salesian communities and lay-run Salesian houses. The programme offers placements lasting between 3 months and 1 year in various houses within the province, based on a dialogue between the volunteer’s interests and the needs of the host community. The Salesian Missionary Volunteer Programme (VMS) is conceived as a communal journey: one community sends me out, and I go to become part of another community. For this reason, discernment and accompaniment will be fundamental throughout the process. Placements will be in houses within the province, as part of the provincial preparation programme for the VMS, with the aim that every experience should be a genuine opportunity for growth in faith and service to young people. “Patios sin fronteras” was conceived as an invitation to keep alive the mission that began 150 years ago: to be present, to accompany and to walk alongside young people wherever they need us most.
