Brazil – Salesians in the Amazon organise a formation meeting for young people
(ANS – Manaus) – The Salesian Province of St Dominic Savio organised the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) Formation Meeting from 3 to 6 July 2026 at the Provincial Headquarters in Manaus. The initiative brought together young leaders from various Salesian communities across the region, with the aim of deepening their human, spiritual and Salesian formation, preparing them to lead and support youth groups within their communities. The programme began with a Mass presided over by the Provincial, Fr Felipe Bauziére. Participants were welcomed in the auditorium of the Provincial Centre by the Vice-Provincial and Delegate for Youth Ministry, Fr Raimundo Marcelo Maciel, who emphasised the importance of leaders who are well prepared for the Salesian mission and for youth leadership. Over the course of the four days, the young people took part in talks, workshops and formation sessions on key themes for the SYM’s journey, such as ‘Getting to know oneself to serve better: self-awareness and personal identity’ and ‘The Salesian Youth Movement and the assistant’, as well as the foundations of the SYM, its mission, its organisation and the role of the assistant in leading youth groups. The programme also included in-depth sessions on Salesian Youth Ministry, Salesian Youth Spirituality, the Life Project and Vocation, as well as times of prayer, fraternal fellowship and the sharing of experiences amongst young people from the various Salesian presences in the Amazon.
