Chile – National campaign launched: “Salesianos con Venezuela” to support the victims of the twin earthquakes
(ANS – Santiago) – Under the slogan: “Your contribution will bring hope!”, the Salesian Province of St Gabriel the Archangel, based in Santiago, Chile, has announced the official launch of the national fundraising campaign: “Salesianos con Venezuela”, an initiative aimed at supporting families affected by the recent and devastating double earthquake that struck the country.
The campaign has been launched as an urgent response to the dire situation faced by the Venezuelan people and aims to channelling the solidarity of Salesian communities, parishes and schools across Chile, with a view to providing practical assistance to the hardest-hit families.
According to the plan drawn up by the St Luke Province in Venezuela, the aid will be used to distribute food parcels to 10 Salesian communities and to provide emergency grants to 200 Salesian workers directly affected by the crisis.
In a letter addressed to the Salesian Family in Chile, the Provincial, Fr Nelson Moreno, made a heartfelt appeal for solidarity: “As Chileans, we know all too well, both in our bodies and in our memories, the pain, fear and silence that follow a devastating earthquake. Today, following the dramatic double earthquake that has struck Venezuela so hard, it is our turn to extend that helping hand.”
The fundraising effort will be centrally coordinated by the Provincial Development and Planning Office, which will ensure complete transparency and traceability of the funds, which will be transferred directly to the Venezuelan province.
To ensure a prompt response, the campaign will focus exclusively on fundraising, with donations open from 8 July to 7 August 2026.
