(ANS – Chennai) – The Salesian Don Bosco Anbu Illam Centre, thanks to funding received from Salesian Missions, the Salesian Mission Office in New Rochelle, has been able to renovate several chapels which normally serve as vital hubs for the community, regularly hosting Eucharistic celebrations and other spiritual activities. They are used by the Salesians, the Sisters and the children living in the homes. Among the direct beneficiaries are 110 young people aged between 6 and 18, who are orphans, abandoned, victims of abuse or neglected. Recognising the importance of these spaces in fostering faith, reflection and a sense of community, the refurbishment was carefully planned to create welcoming and peaceful environments. The project focused not only on repairing and reinforcing the structures, but also on enhancing the interior aesthetics through a fresh coat of paint and a redesign of the interiors. Two sculptures were also added: St John Bosco and the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus. The aim, as explained by a Salesian from Don Bosco Anbu Illam, was to transform the chapels into spaces that radiate spiritual energy, promote peace and inspire a sense of sacredness, making them more welcoming for both the children and the staff.
