(ANS – Guwahati) – The first Basic Sea Scout Masters Training Course for the North East Region began at Don Bosco School, Panbazar, on July 14. The week-long programme, concluding on July 20, is jointly organised by the Bharat Scouts and Guides and the Don Bosco District Association, Assam. Held under the theme “Learn, Lead, Serve,” the course brings together Scout Masters and leaders from Don Bosco institutions across the region to strengthen and expand Sea Scout units in the Northeast. Inaugurating the programme, Fr. Bivan Mukhim, Vice Provincial, termed it a historic initiative and urged participants to uphold the Scout motto “Be Prepared” in mind, body, and spirit. He highlighted the values of teamwork, courage, responsibility, and faith in service. Fr. Solomon Denis SDB, Don Bosco District Chief Commissioner, encouraged trainees to make the most of the intensive course and emerge as capable leaders. The training covers navigation, signalling, first aid, water safety and rescue, seamanship, rope work, boat handling, sailing, weather studies, troop management, and an introduction to the Indian Navy and Merchant Navy, among others.
