(ANS – Tarnowskie Góry) – From 18 to 19 June 2026, the long-awaited Gathering of Salesian Schools of the Wrocław Province (PLO), known as “Bądź radosny” (Sta Allegro – Be Joyful), took place at the Salesian Educational Centre in Tarnowskie Góry. This year, the event was hosted by Tarnowskie Góry, a town which, for two days, became a hub for Salesian youth, joy and integration. The gathering was attended by schools from Poznań, Leszno, Lubin, Wrocław and, of course, the hosts: the Primary School and Secondary School of Tarnowskie Góry. Also present were the student councils from the primary and lower secondary schools, who played an active part in the event. The first item on the programme for the first day was a treasure hunt around Tarnowskie Góry’s market square. Afterwards, everyone gathered for a social evening, during which participants were divided into mixed groups so that young people from different towns could get to know one another. Awaiting them were dance challenges, riddles and quizzes, a Silesian song recognition game, and activities centred on fun and collaboration. After a shared dinner, the evening concluded with a prayer in the chapel and a brief goodnight from Fr Mikołaj Wyczałek, SDB, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry. At the same time, a meeting of school headteachers was also held, during which plans for the coming school year were discussed in the spirit of the Salesian mission. The second day began with sports competitions: the boys competed in football, whilst the girls played volleyball. On that occasion, the student councils met once again with Fr Mikołaj Wyczałek to discuss the work carried out so far, share experiences and reflect on how to work even more effectively next year. The highlight of the day was Holy Mass, presided over by Fr Bartłomiej Polański, Superior of the Wrocław Province. Following the Eucharist, an awards ceremony was held for the winning sports teams, bringing the two-day event dedicated to young people to a close. The gathering demonstrated once again how important it is to build a community between schools, exchange experiences and live out together the values bequeathed by St John Bosco.
