(ANS – Wrocław) – For the tenth time, pilgrims on roller skates set off from Wrocław bound for Jasna Góra. The Wrocław Jubilee Roller-Skating Pilgrimage took place under the motto “Missionary Disciple”, combining prayer, sport, community life and the joy characteristic of Salesian spirituality. Over the course of four days, the participants covered over 200 kilometres. Along the way, they were accompanied by the celebration of the Eucharist, talks, the Rosary, testimonies and the daily commitment required by the journey. The pilgrimage also had a missionary dimension: through the “Kilometres of Love” initiative, support was provided for the Salesian missions in Iauaretê, in the Brazilian Amazon. The pilgrimage was led by  Salesians Fr Jerzy Babiak, the main organiser and co-founder of the initiative, and Fr Tomasz Hawrylewicz. From the very beginning, a group of young volunteers has also been involved in the organisation, carrying out important tasks, including maintaining order, thereby contributing to the safety and smooth running of the pilgrimage. This year’s event was attended by pilgrims from various regions of Poland and also from abroad. The youngest participant was 13 years old, the oldest 71. It is a beautiful sign that the path to Mary is open to anyone who has the courage to set out on the journey. The Wrocław Roller Skating Pilgrimage began ten years ago with a simple idea: is it possible to make a pilgrimage to Jasna Góra on roller skates? Today, it is one of the best-known Salesian pilgrimage initiatives in Poland. It brings together young people and adults, combining spirituality and physical activity, joy and a sense of responsibility.
