India – Salesian educators and physical education teachers meet to strengthen coordinated sports ministry
Panjim, India – January 2026 – Physical education teachers and Salesians from schools, higher secondary institutions and higher education centres of the Salesian Province of India-Panjim (INP) met for the first time on 17 January at Don Bosco Fatorda to reflect on collaborative ways to coordinate sports ministry throughout the province. The meeting marked an important step in recognising sport as a vital area of youth ministry that requires structured attention and collective planning. With the aim of better coordinating the various areas of youth ministry, participants identified sport as an area that could benefit greatly from a unified approach. The meeting sought to bring together the efforts of different institutions, along with physical education teachers and physical education directors, to ensure a more effective and coherent sports ministry for young people. The programme began with a reflection on the seriousness and relevance of sport as an integral part of the Salesian Youth Ministry Reference Framework. The final session focused on open discussion and future planning, examining the most suitable times for organising sporting events, priority age groups, formation programmes and ways of pooling resources.
