Porto Alegre, Brazil – January 2026 – The Salesian St Pius X Province of Porto Alegre, Brazil (BPA) carried out its missionary projects for 2026 from 11 to 17 January, involving young people, adults and Salesians in evangelisation activities in the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. The initiatives took place through the Youth Missionary Project (PMJ) and the Adult Missionary Project (PMA), with activities that included formation, oratory and visits to communities. The projects followed the theme of the 2026 Strenna of the Rector Major, Fr Fabio Attard: ‘Do whatever he tells you – Believers, free to serve’. The projects took place simultaneously in four missionary areas. The PMJ took place in Prudentópolis (PR), with 46 participants; Agrolândia (SC), with 61; and Rio Pardo (RS), with 44. The PMA took place in Curitiba (PR), with 20 participants. The groups were made up of young people aged 18 to 30, adults over 30, priests and Salesian brothers, as well as young Salesians at every stage of their formation. In Agrolândia, the project also involved 14 young Salesians and a priest from the diocese of Rio do Sul. There were 759 visits to Agrolândia, 626 to Prudentópolis, 635 to Rio Pardo and 276 to Curitiba. The Salesian missionary projects also received a visit from the BPA Provincial, Fr Ademir Ricardo Cwendrych, and the Vice-Provincial Fr Sérgio Ramos de Souza.
