Italy – Hearts in Christ to be shepherds of young people: the ICC Five-Year Programme in Genoa Sampierdarena
Genoa, Italy – January 2026 – From 13 to 16 January, the Salesian community at Sampierdarena Genoa hosted the Formation Days for Quniquennium Salesiansin Central Italy (ICC). For the participants, it was an intense family experience, in conjunction with the Provincial Visitation, to strengthen their sense of belonging and common mission. The journey began with a retreat at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Guard, led by Rector Fr Andrea Robotti. The visit to the Museum of Missionary Expeditions and the National Museum of Italian Emigration touched the participants deeply, reminding them that a third of Salesians are engaged in missions and that the nature of the Salesian Congregation is intrinsically missionary. The meeting with the Vice-Provincial, Fr Daniele Merlini, urged the Quinquennium Salesians to work on their Personal Life Project. Particularly intense was the meeting with Fr Silvio Roggia, General Councillor for Formation, who explored the new Ratio and the current challenges of the participants’ formation stage. Fr Andrea Lupi, Delegate for Youth Ministry, led the reflection on Education in the Faith porcesses. Subsequently, Fr Piero Ingegnere spoke about the psychological dynamics common to this stage of life. The last day was marked by a meeting with the ICC Provincial, Fr Roberto Colameo, who shared the situation of the ICC Province and its prospects, establishing a fraternal dialogue with the participants.
