Baijalbari, India – January 2026 – Baijalbari experienced a moment of profound spiritual significance on 14 January with the solemn blessing of St John Paul II Parish Church by Bishop Lumen Monteiro CSC, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Agartala. The sacred ceremony marked an important milestone in the life of the parish community and was celebrated in an atmosphere of deep faith, joy and thanksgiving. The occasion was honoured by the presence of several eminent Church leaders, including Fr John Zosiama, SDB, Superior of the Salesian Province of Shillong (INS), Fr K. J. Abraham CSC, Provincial of Holy Cross of the North-East Region, and Fr Paul Panachikkal, SDB, Parish Priest of Baijalbari. A large group of priests, sisters and lay faithful from Baijalbari and neighbouring parishes participated in the celebration, bearing witness to the unity and vibrant faith of the local Church.
