Ethiopia – Salesian Family Day in the AET Vice-Province
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – January 2026 – On 24 January 2026, the Salesian Family of the AET Vice-Province celebrated Salesian Family Day in Mekanissa, Addis Ababa. The event brought together representatives of the six groups of the Salesian Family present in the Vice-Province. Theme: “Embodying Salesian Spirituality”
The celebration, organized by the Don Bosco Past Pupils, focused on the theme “Embodying Salesian Spirituality.” Participants included the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), the Salesian Cooperators, the Don Bosco Past Pupils, the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), and the Volunteers of Don Bosco (VDB).
Opening Moments of Prayer and Joy
The program began with a prayer and reflection by Fr. Isidoro, SDB, Delegate for the Salesian Family. Musical performances followed, helping to create a joyful and fraternal atmosphere among all present.
Key Reflections and Contributions
The main reflection was delivered by Fr. Ignacio Laventure, SDB, AET Superior, on the theme “Do Whatever He Tells You,” encouraging faithfulness to the Salesian vocation.
Additional contributions included:
- Sr. Alemitu, FMA, who spoke about building a culture of solidarity
- Sr. Losa (MSMHC), who presented the charism and mission of her congregation

The day concluded with reflections from Fr. Petros, Delegate for Youth Ministry, followed by a final message from the AET Superior. He invited everyone to renew their commitment to the Salesian charism and mission.
