Italy – “Rise up”, the new song by the Salesian Youth Movement of Southern Italy for the solemnity of St John Bosco
Naples, Italy – January 2026 – A song that was born from a journey, not just from a recording studio. It is called ‘Rise Up’ and is the new song produced by the Southern Salesian Province (IME) for the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) of southern Italy, the result of a music workshop that involved young people, animators and musicians in a shared artistic and pastoral experience. It is also a hymn designed to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first Salesian missionary expedition to Patagonia, initiated by St John Bosco. The project takes shape within the Pastoral Proposal 2025-2026, whose slogan is ‘Get up and go. Steadfast in Faith’, recalling the Gospel theme of rising up as an act of trust, a choice of responsibility and enthusiasm experienced in the Salesian mission. ‘Rise Up’ becomes its musical translation, capable of speaking the language of the new generations and relaunching the missionary enthusiasm. At the heart of the story are the voices of many young people who, aware of their fragility, accept their ‘missionì, rising up without hesitation, entrusting themselves to Don Bosco’s dream as ‘missionaries’ in their daily lives. ‘Rise Up’ will be available on all major digital music platforms from 31 January, the feast day of St John Bosco. In addition, a video lyric will be published on the social channels of the SYM and IME on the same date to ensure wide dissemination and enjoyment of the song.
