Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar – January 2026 – The blessing of the new wing of the Don Bosco Philosophate was celebrated on the feast day of St Thomas Aquinas, Patron Saint of Philosophers and Theologians. It was led by Fr Aung Zaw Win, SDB. The Mass was presided over by Fr Zeya Aung, Superior of the Salesian Vice-Province of Myanmar (MYM), and concelebrated by twenty priests. In his homily, the Superior emphasised the importance of reading for students, reminding them that learning is the eighth sacrament for a priest (St Francis de Sales). At the end of Mass, Fr Aung Zaw Win thanked everyone for participating in the celebration, and in particular mentioned the Province of Madrid and the Provincial community of South Korea for their indispensable help; Mrs Snow White, the engineer who supervised the entire construction and directed the work, and contributed financially to complete the work on schedule, received a special mention, as did Mrs Mabel Aung (one of the parishioners of Anisakan) who contributed in various ways to speeding up the work. The guests were invited to visit the new wing and everyone was pleasantly impressed.
