(ANS – Hamamatsu)  – The Brazilian Catholic community of Hamamatsu parish celebrated the feast of St John Bosco, while also anticipating with gratitude the 100th anniversary of the Salesian presence in Japan, rooted in the parish’s long‑standing Salesian charism. The celebration opened with a Eucharistic Mass presided over by Fr Ambrosio, inspired by the Strenna 2026, “Do whatever He tells you. Believers, free to serve.” During the Mass, José Matias, born on the feast day of Don Bosco, was baptized and consecrated to Mary Help of Christians. The celebrations continued at the pastoral centre with cultural performances and fellowship, marked by strong participation of families, children, and young people, who—guided by catechists—presented simple narrations on the lives of Don Bosco and Don Cimatti. The event echoed the wider provincial preparations for the Salesian Centenary, officially scheduled for 8 February at Tokyo Cathedral, and expressed the hope that the Salesian spirit may continue to grow deeply among families and young people in Japan.
