(ANS – Guwahati) – The Salesian Province of Guwahati India (ING) celebrated New Priests’ Day with joy and gratitude on Saturday 7 February at Mario Hall, Provincial House, Panbazar. The celebration brought together Salesians, local communities and supporters to thank God for the gift of new priestly vocations received by the province. The highlight of the day was the solemn celebration of the Eucharist, which created a deeply devout and fraternal atmosphere. This year’s liturgy was marked by a rare and moving gesture: a deacon, who will be ordained on 14 April, proclaimed the Gospel after being blessed by his companion. This symbolic gesture – one companion blessing another – was a powerful sign of brotherhood, shared vocation and mutual support within the Salesian family. Fr Sebastian Kuricheal, SDB, Provincial of ING, expressed his sincere gratitude for the graces received from the province and reminded the new priests that ordination completes one phase of formation, but also inaugurates a journey of self-formation that lasts a lifetime. ‘Community life and the people you serve will continue to shape you,’ he said, encouraging the priests to trust in the Lord as their daily guide.
