Kenya – Ongoing formation session on Salesian pastoral accompaniment for eight Salesians
(ANS – Nairobi) – From Monday 9 to Friday 13 February 2026, eight Salesian priests: Jean-Claude Asifiwe, Philip Matemba, Adao Dombel, Stéphane Kayembe, Delphin Muhindo, Sammy Salamba, Olivier Makoroka and Weldu Gebremedhin, from the Provinces and Vice-Provinces of Africa Great Lakes (AGL), Zambia-Malawi-Botswana (ZMB) and Central-Eastern Africa (ACE), participated in an ongoing formation session on Salesian pastoral accompaniment held in Nairobi at the DBYES community. Organised by DonBosco-SAFCAM, this formation was led by Fr Camiel Swertvagher, with the collaboration of Fr Philip Lazatin, Fr Gerald Umoh and Fr Alex Mulongo. It was a moment of grace and Salesian fraternity, during which the participants acquired concrete tools to make their apostolate ever more fruitful. Starting from their pastoral experiences, they were able to practise the art of accompaniment in a spirit of sharing, listening and discernment, according to Don Bosco’s pedagogy. At the end of the workshop, the participants expressed their deep satisfaction and their desire that a greater number of confreres from African regions might benefit from this formation, in order to strengthen together an authentically Salesian culture of accompaniment at the service of young people and the Church.
