(ANS – Shire) – The Don Bosco Centre in Shire is a vital Salesian facility in Tigray which, in a very difficult context, offers education and support to vulnerable, orphaned or poor young people through its school and computer courses. On 5 March 2026, Don Bosco Shire, in collaboration with the Sisters of St Jeanne Antide Thouret and the Daughters of Charity, organised a humanitarian food distribution for vulnerable internally displaced persons. The initiative aimed to support the most at-risk groups, particularly pregnant and breast-feeding mothers, whose nutritional needs are particularly urgent. A total of 200 beneficiaries from different internally displaced communities in Shire received food assistance. Each beneficiary was provided with 25 kg of FAMIX (a food supplement to combat malnutrition in children), 3 kg of salt, 2.5 kg of sugar and 3 litres of edible oil to meet the nutritional needs of mothers and their families.
