Ethiopia – Bosco Children Community Strengthens Trauma-Informed Care through TBRI Training

(ANS – Addis Abebe) – On Wednesday, 18 March 2026, the Bosco Children Community organized a training session on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) for its staff, facilitated by professional practitioners with the support of All God’s Children International (AGCI). Rev. Fr Angelo Regaso, Director of the centre, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of understanding children’s life experiences alongside education and vocational formation. Mr Dereje, AGCI Ethiopia Country Director, presented the objectives and officially inaugurated the program. Developed by Dr David Cross and Dr Karyn Purvis, TBRI is an attachment-based and trauma-informed model of care. Participants explored how trauma affects the brain, body, behaviour, and belief systems. The training highlighted the three pillars of trauma-informed care: safety, connection, and regulation. Special attention was given to the core principles of connecting, empowering, and correcting. In his concluding remarks, Rev. Fr Yohannes Mengistu thanked the facilitators and staff for their commitment. The session provided practical tools to better understand hidden traumas and respond more sensitively to the needs of children.
