(ANS – Goiânia) – On 3 March 2026, the Salesian Apprenticeship Centre (CESAM) in Goiânia hosted an ongoing formation session for apprentices on the theme of combating femicide, bringing young people together to discuss respect, equality and the fight against violence against women. The activity took place as part of the specific knowledge module, with the aim of broadening the apprentices’ civic education beyond their socio-professional qualifications. The initiative forms part of the institute’s complementary formation programme for the Social Apprenticeship Scheme, which deepens young people’s skills in areas related to professional, personal, social and emotional life. During the formation, fundamental concepts regarding gender-based violence were addressed, along with the various forms of aggression that can occur in relationships and the importance of reporting such incidents and supporting victims. The ongoing formation course for apprentices also highlighted the role of information and education in building a fairer and safer society for all. According to the Annual Report on Femicide, in 2025 Brazil recorded 6,904 victims of femicide, with 4,755 attempted murders and 2,149 homicides. The course was led by psychologist Melrilene Dojame, who emphasised that information is one of the main tools for combating gender-based violence.
