(ANS – Paris) – The Don Bosco Foundation in Paris and the Bocage Foundation in Chambéry held their annual event on 19 March at the Catholic Institute of Paris. As is the case every year, it was an occasion for sharing, discussion and reflection, featuring a number of significant presentations. Various topics were addressed during the event, such as the importance of Scouting, which enables young people to “learn by doing”. Participants then reflected on the role of the educator (following in the footsteps of Don Bosco, the founder of Scouting Baden-Powell and Camille Costa de Beauregard), who must be the first to believe in young people. It was indeed emphasised that to educate means to believe in every young person’s ability to become someone who can serve others. Those present then took part in an interesting round-table discussion focused on “Education and Commitment”, moderated by Isabelle de Gaulmyn, former editor-in-chief of La Croix and president of the Social Weeks of France. The round table also featured other distinguished guests, such as Vicki Ann Cremona, university professor, former Maltese ambassador to France (2005–2009), and president of the Maltese NGO Repubblika, and the Salesian Father Xavier de Verchère, chaplain general of the Scouts and Guides of France.
