(ANS – Cuenca) – The Técnico Salesiano Educational Centre proudly pays tribute to Belén García, the school’s swimming coach, who has been awarded an honour by the National Assembly of Ecuador in recognition of her extraordinary career and her contribution to the development of sport in the country. The award highlights not only her achievements as an athlete, but also her current commitment to the formation of the next generation. Belén García is a former elite swimmer, a discipline in which she achieved significant results at both national and international level. She was national champion in the 100-metre breaststroke, establishing herself as one of the leading figures in her category. Her sporting career also includes notable international achievements, having won a bronze medal at the World Swimming Championships in Mexico in 2017. Currently, her role as a coach at the Técnico Salesiano reflects the continuity of this commitment to sport. Through formation, she imparts to her students not only technical knowledge but also fundamental values such as perseverance, commitment, discipline and teamwork. Her experience as an elite athlete serves as a key tool in guiding young talents through their development process.
