Argentina – The San José Institute in Puerto Deseado begins celebrations for its centenary

(ANS – Puerto Deseado) – On Thursday 12 March 2026, the educational and pastoral community of the San José Salesian House in Puerto Deseado celebrated a day of festivities to mark the centenary of the Salesian educational work. The celebrations began on Wednesday 11 March with a night vigil in front of Our Lady of the Guard Parish, attended by hundreds of people, including educational staff, families, past pupils, retired teachers and local authorities, with Mayor Juan Raúl Martínez, himself a past pupil, taking centre stage. The event featured a programme of performances by local artists, and with the school gates open, visitors entered the gallery to view the centenary historical exhibition showcasing the historic artefacts of the Salesian House. This was followed by a celebratory toast and the cutting of the cake. The culmination of this extraordinary gathering between the Salesian community and that of Deseado was entrusted to Fr Natalino Freitas, who imparted a blessing to those present and entrusted them to the protection of God the Father, Our Lady Help of Christians and St John Bosco for the years to come.
