Brazil – Presentation of the “Nordestão Salesiano Edebê 2026” event

The launch, held online, began with a moment of prayer led by Fr João Carlos Ribeiro, BRE Province Vice-Provincial. The communications coordinator of the Salesian Institute in Aracaju, Anderson Peralta, outlined the main details of the “Nordestão Salesiano” event to the communications teams of the Salesian presences in the region, highlighting the host city, aspects of local culture, the calendar of activities and expectations for the competition, which will take place from 26 to 30 June.

In 2026, the Salesian Nordestão reaches its 39th edition and will take place under the motto “In life and in sport, the rule is to love and respect”. Established as one of the major sporting events of the Salesian Network in Brazil – Schools Sector, the tournament has a regional scope and national reach, bringing together more than 1,300 student-athletes from cities and states as diverse as Aracaju (State of Sergipe), Salvador (Bahia), Recife (Pernambuco), Fortaleza (Ceará), Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) and Brasília (Federal District).

According to Mr Peralta, the event goes beyond mere sporting competition. “The Salesian Nordestão is an incredible opportunity for children and teenagers from Salesian schools to experience a genuine cultural exchange, showcase their talents, compete in a healthy manner and represent their schools in an environment that values the spirit of Don Bosco’s courtyard,” he emphasised.

The event’s official website will be launched shortly, featuring all the details about the competition. The Salesian Family will also be able to follow the programme and the latest updates via the official pages on the main social media platforms, under the handle: @nordestaosalesiano
