(ANS – Hong Kong) – The Annual General Assembly of the Salesian Cooperators of Hong Kong took place successfully in recent weeks. Held under the theme “Going Online・Looking Up”, the event was an invitation to examine the role of Salesian Cooperators in a rapidly evolving digital age. Reflection focused, in fact, on how to make good use of technology whilst safeguarding faith and the warmth of humanity. Thanks to talks by Sister Tse and Fr Chan, those present were invited to reflect on this question: in an age marked by the rise of Artificial Intelligence and an overload of information, how can we continue to live the Salesian spirit, drawing close to young people through an authentic presence and accompaniment, and walking with them without allowing ourselves to be led astray by technology? By examining the TV series “Adolescence”, participants were able to address sensitive issues such as cyberbullying, malicious comments posted on social media, a lack of communication within families, and much more. It is in these contexts, Fr Chan emphasised, that Salesian Cooperators must dedicate themselves even more to accompanying young people, providing them with a safe space where they can be listened to, understood and supported. Finally, at the close of the General Assembly, ten prospective members responded to God’s call and formally committed themselves to joining the Association of Salesian Cooperators.
