Brazil – “Technology that connects, humanity that unites us: preserving human voices and faces in the age of Artificial Intelligence”

(ANS – Jaboatão dos Guararapes) – The Communication Meeting of the St Aloysius Gonzaga Province of Recife, Brazil (BRE) took place from 10 to 12 April 2026 on  “Technology that connects, humanity that unites us: preserving human voices and faces in the age of Artificial Intelligence” . The event brought together communicators from various Salesian presences to reflect on the relationship between technology, faith and the educational mission. On the first day, the following spoke: Sister Márcia Koffermann, FMA, who, via video link, explored the theme of edu-communication as the integration of communication and education; Fr João Carlos spoke about the mission in the digital environment; Dr Hugo Valadares presented an overview of AI in Brazil; presentations on provincial communication services and the “Nordeste Hoje” portal. The second day was dedicated to data security, privacy and the ethical use of AI; presentations by Antônio Cosme and Rafael Pimenta (Data Secret Brasil) on the LGPD and the protection of minors online; a conference by the Pan agency on free AI in communication; Leonardo Oliveira spoke on crisis management and a culture of care; Paulo Yajima and Wilson Firmo outlined best practices in the use of AI. Following the cultural evening, the awards ceremony for best communication practices took place. On the final day, the event concluded with Holy Mass and sector-specific planning and sharing meetings.
