(ANS – Siliguri) – On 18 and 19 April 2026, the Salesian College (Autonomous) in Siliguri hosted the first inter-parish youth conference, entitled “SymphoriX”. The event was organised by young people from the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), under the theme: “Let your light shine”. This pioneering conference brought together a total of 109 students from Years 9 to 12, representing seven parishes in the tea-growing areas of the dioceses of Bagdogra and Jalpaiguri. Over the course of the event, the students took part in dance competitions, band performances, exhibitions and other interesting activities. The whole event was facilitated by around 50 volunteers, under the guidance of SYM President Ashish Santah and coordinated by Fr Tomy Augustine. On 18 April, Bishop Fabian Toppo of Jalpaiguri presided over Holy Mass at the Don Bosco Shrine, urging the young people to spread hope, love and positivity through their talents and leadership. The closing Eucharistic celebration, meanwhile, was presided over by Bishop Paul Simick of Bagdogra. Among the highlights of the conference was the “Olympic Night”, held at the institute’s stadium and coordinated by Liander Ekka, together with six Salesian Brothers and a group of nuns.
