(ANS – Ostrów Wielkopolski) – For a weekend, the town of Ostrów Wielkopolski was transformed into a cross between an Olympic village, an oratory and a supporters’ zone, where cheering mingled with prayer and spirituality. Around 200 young people from across the Wrocław Province, Poland (PLO) gathered at the FMA primary school, which for two days became the hub of all their activities. The Olympic torch was lit by Fr Bartłomiej Polański, Provincial of PLO, and from that moment it was clear to all participants that this would not be a simple spiritual retreat but the “Games of Faith”. Saturday morning began with a focus on formation, featuring a meeting with Fr Mariusz Szypa, a liturgist, who spoke about the Eucharist as a source of renewed faith, followed by workshops organised by age group. Then the sporting competitions began – basketball, volleyball, five-a-side football, tug-of-war, etc. – which sparked a healthy competitive spirit among the young people, all in the spirit of fair play. The event concluded with a moving evening Mass in the Divine Mercy Shrine. On Sunday morning, following prayer, the prize-giving ceremony for the winners took place.
