The highlight of the celebrations was the Mass celebrated at 1.00 pm local time, presided over by the current Provincial of PLN, Fr Tadeusz Itrych, and concelebrated by around ten Salesians, members of the SSWM.
The homily was given by the current president of the SSWM, Fr Krzysztof Tomeczkowski, SDB, who recalled the official beginnings of the association, dating back to 12 November 2001, when the SSWM was registered under the code “KRS 0000061527”. As he pointed out, the founding of the SSWM at the time was not a headline-grabbing event, but over the years it has been of enormous importance for the work of educating young people in the Salesian spirit.
The next item on the agenda was the commemorative gathering in the school hall. The presidents of the SSWM and representatives of the various sections took the floor, sharing experiences and reflections from past years. The current President also outlined the Association’s current situation and the prospects for its further development. Later in the day, the General Assembly of SSWM Members was held, an important moment in the life of the organisation.
“We must express our gratitude to all the institutions, organisations and individuals who, over the last 25 years, have supported the work of the Salesian Association for the Education of Young People,” was stated during the event.
The good work achieved over these years has only been possible thanks to the goodwill of those who, through their commitment and collaboration, have sought to contribute to the realisation of numerous educational, formative and pastoral projects and initiatives. For this reason, during the celebratory session, thanks were extended both to the Salesian communities and to lay partners, local authorities, benefactors and all those who, in whatever way and in whatever capacity, have contributed to the development of the Association and its mission.
