(ANS – Hyderabad) – The Department for Women and Child Development (WCD) organised a certificate presentation programme for children at the Don Bosco Navajeevan (DBNJ) centres. The initiative is part of the Praja Palana programme launched by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, which aims to extend social benefits and governance services to vulnerable populations. Faizan Ahmed, IAS, Deputy District Magistrate of the Medchal-Malkajgiri district, attended the programme as guest of honour. In his address, he highlighted the transformative importance of legal documentation in a digitalised society. During the event, 40 children received birth, caste and orphan certificates, marking a milestone in their journey towards formal recognition. A further 35 children are currently in the process of obtaining their documents. For many of these beneficiaries, the certificates represent more than mere administrative documents: they establish legal identity, enabling access to scholarships, social welfare programmes and formal rights as citizens of India. Fr Mahesh, SDB, representing Don Bosco Navajeevan, outlined the organisation’s extensive awareness-raising work, with a particular focus on the rescue and rehabilitation of children and young people at risk, and also acknowledged the vital support of the WCD.
