El Salvador – STEM summer camp for girls launched in collaboration with UDB and Telus Digital Soyapango

(ANS – Soyapango) – Don Bosco University (UDB), in collaboration with TELUS Digital, has launched the first edition of the STEM 4 Her summer camp, aimed at young women aged between 16 and 18, with the aim of promoting their interest in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The programme is divided into two phases: an initial phase of technical formation, mentoring and workshops at the Soyapango campus, and a second phase of career guidance at TELUS Digital’s offices. Throughout the programme, participants will receive support from mentors, tutors and students from the Faculty of Engineering, who will assist them in their academic development. The opening day included an information session for the participants and their families, as well as activities focused on learning, creativity and teamwork. The summer camp involves the participation of partner companies, mentors, a logistics team and the support of families, all as part of a holistic development programme for the participants. The initiative forms part of UDB’s efforts to contribute to women’s empowerment through formation and cooperation projects that strengthen women’s soft skills and knowledge in the fields of science, technology and innovation. It also aims to bridge the gender gap by promoting equal opportunities in these sectors.
