(ANS – Lima) – The St Rose of Lima Province of Peru (PER) is currently hosting a meeting of Salesian parishes, shrines and public churches, an occasion aimed at strengthening the identity and mission of the parishes entrusted to the Salesians. One of the central points of the reflection, led by Fr Juan Pablo Alcas, Provincial of PER, was precisely to explore what characterises a Salesian parish. Fr Daniel Coronel, Head of the Salesian Parish Network Commission, then spoke, outlining the main challenges, such as the need to “remain faithful to this Salesian identity, better understanding the pastoral approach and developing it in every parish context”. The meeting also aims to provide an opportunity for parish priests from the Province to come together, alongside those responsible for shrines and public churches, in order to create a space for dialogue, professional development and pastoral planning. As a concrete outcome, it is hoped that the Manual of Organisation and Functions (MOF, in Spanish) will be reviewed and approved; this tool will help to guide and strengthen the work in parishes, shrines and public churches in the coming years.
