Philippines – 150 years of faithful mission: the Salesian Cooperators celebrate Don Bosco’s living legacy

(ANS – Makati City) – On 9 May 2026, the Salesian Cooperators (ASC) in the Philippines North Province gathered at St John Bosco Parish in Makati to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Association’s foundation. The day began with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Arnold Sanico, SDB, Vice-Provincial of Philippines North, together with several Salesian concelebrants. One of the most moving moments of the celebration was the entrance of the new aspirants and the renewal of vows by long-standing members of the Association. After Mass, the main programme began with a presentation on the history of the Association. This was followed by a relaunch of the formation module presented by Fr Favie Faldas, SDB, Provincial Delegate for the ASC, who emphasised the ongoing need for formation, accompaniment and missionary renewal among lay collaborators. The event concluded with a closing message from Fr Jerry Santos, SDB, Rector of the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati, who reminded participants that the true celebration of the 150th anniversary does not lie in a single day, but in the ongoing witness of those who choose to live the Salesian vocation daily in the service of young people and the Church.
