(ANS – Twardogóra) – For forty-five years, Twardogóra, in the Salesian Province of Wrocław (PLO), has held an Altar Servers’ Pilgrimage. Over the long weekend from 30 April to 3 May 2026, over two hundred altar servers and lectors from Poznań, Leszno, Wrocław, Lublin, Sosnowiec, Bytom and other cities took part in the sporting activities of PIM2026, a true character-building workshop. Indoor five-a-side football, tug-of-war, table football, table tennis, sprint relays, Multithlon, individual long jump, 100-metre and 400-metre races, a shooting range and various other challenges tested not only physical strength but also skill and character. Evenings at PIM are particularly lively, filled with music, laughter and fun. This is not merely about ‘integration’, but something more. When the altar boys’ anthem rings out, hundreds of young voices sing what sounds like a declaration of identity. There were also formation sessions led by pupils, secondary school students and Salesians. Finally, the altar servers in liturgical vestments brought the March of Joy to life, walking through the streets, singing, praying and waving flags, whilst people looked out of their windows, filming. And these are the young people: young people who are not ashamed of their faith in an age when it is easier to be ashamed of it than to profess it.
