(ANS – Cartago) – On 9 May 2026, the Salesian Cooperators (ASC) in Costa Rica celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Association’s foundation at the Santo Domingo Savio Salesian Centre, under the motto “Be leaven to bear fruit. From mission to action”. The event brought together members from various centres, along with aspirants, representatives of the Salesian Youth Movement and special guests. The celebration began with the Eucharist, presided over by Fr Roberto Henríquez, SDB, ASC national delegate, accompanied by Fr Héctor Hernández, SDB; Jean Paul Bethancourt, SDB; and René Santos, SDB, Vice-Provincial and Delegate of the Salesian Family for Central America. During Mass, nine new members of the Domingo Savio Centre made their promises, whilst active ASC members renewed their commitment. Afterwards, participants shared a fraternal gathering in the multi-purpose hall, where Bessy Cáceres, national coordinator of the Association, offered words of welcome. The event included videos on the history, impact and challenges of the ASC in Costa Rica, as well as a tribute to deceased SSCC members. Awards were also presented to local, national and provincial delegates, and 19 SSCC members with 25 or more years of service were honoured.
