(ANS – Nairobi) – Fifteen Salesians from various communities in Kenya participated in a Safeguarding and Child Protection training held at Don Bosco Youth Education Services (DBYES), Nairobi, from 12–14 May 2026. Most participants were Rectors and community leaders. The training was organised by DBTech Africa. The Provincial of Eastern Africa welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of safeguarding, not only for the well-being of children but also for ensuring responsible and lawful caregiving. The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of educators to recognise, prevent, and respond to child protection concerns, in line with Don Bosco’s preventive system. Participants reviewed relevant UN documents and Kenya’s Children’s Act (2022), and reflected on challenges faced in their centres. The seminar concluded with the awarding of certificates, reinforcing the Province’s commitment to creating safe and nurturing environments for young people.
