(ANS – Sydney) – In many parts of the world, the second Sunday of May is dedicated to celebrating mothers and grandmothers, recognising their vital role in families and in the transmission of faith. Continuing a long-standing tradition, St John Bosco College, Engadine (Sydney, NSW), held its annual Mother’s Day Mass on Friday, 8 May 2026. Students and staff warmly welcomed mothers, grandmothers — and grandfathers — for a celebration of thanksgiving. The liturgy, prepared by the Religious Education Department and led by students, featured readings, prayers, music, and heartfelt tributes. At the end of the Mass, students presented specially prepared gifts to their mothers and grandmothers. Fr Jim Kyaw Hoe, SDB, Rector of the Salesian complex in Engadine, presided at the Eucharist, reflecting on the unique bond between mother and child as a reflection of God’s compassionate love. The celebration concluded with refreshments prepared by hospitality students, marking a joyful day of gratitude.
