(ANS – Petén) – The parish community of San Benito in Petén celebrated the novena in honour of Mary Help of Christians in a special way with a Rosary on the waters of Lake Petén Itzá, a pastoral initiative that brought together families, young people and members of the community in an atmosphere of faith and fellowship. The event took place on 17 May 2026 and was attended by over 120 people, including pilgrims, volunteers and members of the communities who set up the various altars along the route. Fifteen boats were used to transport participants to different points on the lake, where the Holy Rosary was said. During the procession, six altars set up by different sections of the parish were visited. At each station, a mystery of the Rosary was meditated upon, accompanied by songs and reflections. The image of Mary Help of Christians accompanied the entire journey, enabling a unique experience of evangelisation, using Lake Petén Itzá as a place to strengthen prayer and community life.
