Colombia – “The integral care of the Salesian vocation”: a formation day for the Salesian Province of St Peter Claver Bogotá, Colombia

(ANS – Bogotá) – With a view to promoting the integral human care of Salesians, the St Peter Claver Province of Bogotá Colombia (COB) organised an interesting formation day focusing on the theme: “The integral care of the Salesian vocation”. The meeting brought together numerous Salesians from across the provinces, with the aim of exploring tools for emotional regulation, guidelines for self-care, and the prevention of ministerial burnout at different stages of religious life. The day featured the participation of high-level international experts, led by Fr Hernán Alzate, CJM, a psychologist at the Institute of Psychology of the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, and Dr Yolima Ortiz, director of the Department of Psychology at the Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (UNIMINUTO). Through workshops and diagnostic analysis sessions, the needs of the communities were examined with a view to enhancing the quality of life of religious and optimising their pastoral service. This initiative forms part of a cross-cutting policy of the Salesian Congregation aimed at safeguarding the holistic well-being of its pastors, in the knowledge that a balanced community life directly translates into a more resilient and effective mission in support of the country’s vulnerable young people.
