Poland – The Salesian Missionary Centre in Warsaw is producing a documentary on life in Alexandria, Egypt
(ANS – Warsaw) – In the poorest neighbourhoods of Alexandria, Egypt, the Don Bosco Salesian Institute offers young people an opportunity for a better future. It is not merely a vocational school of the highest standard, but above all a true home, where every student is surrounded by kindness and care. The documentary by the Salesian Missionary Centre (SOM) in Warsaw – “Open Doors, Secure Future” – takes us to the poorest neighbourhoods of this city, where the Salesian Institute supports and welcomes many young people. It is a moving story, which tells of a reality far greater than that of a mere vocational school. Above all, it is a true home, where every student, regardless of their background or religion, is welcomed with kindness, respect and care. The camera follows the young people through their daily lives: from the vocational workshops to the classrooms, right through to the sports field. Principals, teachers and students explain how, thanks to support, dedication and hard work, it is possible to effectively overcome the barriers of poverty.
