(ANS – Zagreb) – In Zagreb Cathedral on Saturday 20 June 2026, the Archbishop of Zagreb, Archbishop Dražen Kutleša, ordained ten new priests, including five Salesians. The Archbishop Emeritus, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, and four auxiliary bishops of Zagreb concelebrated the Mass, together with around a hundred priests. In his moving homily, the Archbishop urged the newly ordained priests to “truly become men of God”, reminding them that to do so “they must look into their own hearts, because for a priest the most important thing is to listen to the voice of God and let God speak.” The new Salesian priests are: Karlo Ćuk, Luka Grgatović, Josip Kolak, Neven Pejić and Josip Soldo. The latter, who belongs to the AET Vice-Province, decided a few years ago to become a missionary ad gentes. A particularly memorable aspect of this ordination is that it is the first to be celebrated in Zagreb Cathedral in seven years. This sacred place had been damaged by the earthquakes that struck Croatia years ago. The Cathedral had remained closed for a very long time, and so this was the first priestly ordination to be celebrated here following years of reconstruction and repair. Whilst restoration work continues, life is gradually returning to normal in this house of God.
