The celebration was presided over by Bishop Joaquim Mendes, Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Lisbon.\u00a0 Following a vocational journey discerned later in life, Jo\u00e3o Ensina was ordained a priest in the service of the Church, with a special dedication to young people in the Salesian charism. In his homily, the bishop described priestly ordination as \u201ca profound joy born in the heart of God.\u201d The new priest chose as his motto, \u201cI consecrate myself for them\u201d (Jn 17:19). In his words of thanksgiving, Fr Ensina expressed deep gratitude for his journey in education and pastoral accompaniment. Addressing the young people present, he invited them to trust in God\u2019s call with realism and hope.
